Quilt Show and Bee Hive.

The Cal-Co Quilt show is THIS weekend. Saturday and Sunday 10-4 at the Marshall High School. We're really excited to be at this new venue where we have more control over the temperatures and elements. This quilt show feels special to me because it marks my anniversary at the sewing shop. Hope we'll see you there. 701 N. marshall Ave. Marshall, MI. 49068.

Secondly, we are forming a modern Quilting Bee Group at Sew Unique.

Modern Bee by Lindsay Conner.
Click HERE for more book details.
Modern quilting is taking the quilting world by storm. Modern quilting is best identified by it's simplicity and open spaces. This Bee will be a block swap. Each month there will be a "Queen" who will receive a quilts worth of blocks .

Each member will make the requested block chosen by that month's Queen plus a signature block. We will be working from the book "Modern Bee". The Queen will select a pattern from the book and provide her specifics to the other Hive members. She may also provide fabric if she wishes.
Just a few shots of the quilts in the book.

We will exchange emails and text numbers so if there is a question of fabric or color the Queen can weigh in.

This is a fun way to ease into the modern quilting world and a great way to connect with other quilters!! The hives will form and start in September if your interested call and let us know so we can add you to our list!!

I hope summer is finding all of you sweet sewists doing well.
Happy, gardening, swimming, picnicking...and sewing!
Love,
Jessie and Sue.

Tis the Season...

Don't hate me for this, but I think it's worth mentioning that there are only 11 weeks until Christmas! If that scares you then consider that Halloween is even closer. In that vein (vein, get it? Muwaahaaa), we have two kits. The kits use the Ghastlies for a fantastic and fun take on both holidays.

The first kit is a Ghastlie quilt perfect for a cold fall day. Kit is $63 and includes the pattern and fabric for the quilt top. Click HERE for all the Ghastlies we carry.

The second kit is a Ghastlie Christmas apron. I'm actually in love with this apron and am planning on making one for myself to wear during all my Christmas baking. I love that it's holiday themed but pokes fun at it too. Christmas for me, is very magical but there are still moments when it can feel a bit ghastly! The apron kit includes the Amy Butler pattern used so you know the apron is going to fit really well and be nice and flattering. This would be a perfect "tongue and cheek"gift for the quirky person in your life, or for yourself (like I said, I'm totally making myself one). Kit is 44.95 and includes all fabric and pattern.
Sorry about the awful glare on this picture.

Also we have the new Fig Tree collection "Somerset" from Moda. As always it's superb. Click HERE for more details.
Just a taste of the new Somerset collection from Moda. Her designs are
always so beautiful.

Why not cuddle up with a blanket and a warm glass of cider and plan out those Holiday projects now. That's always my favorite part anyway. Check out our Pinterest Boards HERE for lots of ideas. We have a file filled with costume ideas, a Ghastlie file with lots of creative uses for the Ghastlie fabric, a Christmas file, gifts file, and toys. Lots of sewing inspiration from around the internet.
Happy browsing and Happy Sewing!
Love,
Jessie and Sue

Kit of the Week

Hello lovely sewing friends. While it's always hard to come back from a wonderful vacation, I'm glad to be home among the magic of my everyday life, which includes wonderful fabrics and projects waiting for me. Also my day lilies were in full bloom, and my baby birds had flown from their nest, all beautiful things to make homecoming sweet.

There was also a new Kit of the Week waiting for me! This one is a Wool kit that is so playful I almost can't stand it. From Plays with Wool Designs it's the Jelly Beans Mat kit. The finished design measures 8'' X 8'' and comes with all the wool you'll need and the pattern. Price is $12. Come in this week to snag one for yourself.

Were also putting a quilt kit on sale. From Pieces of my heart it's the Crossover Layer Cake Quilt. Kit includes all the fabric you'll need from the basic Grey, Hello Luscious Layer cake and fabric for the border. Originally $85 it's on sale for $68, 20% off the original. This quilt is very summery perfect for this time of year.
Finished Quilt. So summery.

Lastly, we've gotten in the fabric bundles for the Day Break quilt from Jaybird quilts.. This kit will include the pattern, fabric for the biding and background and the shimmer fat quarter Bundle used in the quilt. The price is $152.

Friends, I hope you are enjoying summer and all her bounty, even if enjoying it means staying in the air-conditioned house sewing sweet projects.
Happy Sewing,
Love,
Jessie and Sue
