It's spring, time for organizing and cleaning. With that in mind we rearranged the store! It looks great, much more open and bright looking. Come in and take a peek, just have extra patience in case we can't remember where we put certain items.

SALE SALE SALE SALE

I am so excited to announce this: WE ARE HAVING A HUGE SALE! Does it sound like I'm shouting? I totally am. I am very excited about this. We've been needing to have one for a while and after we rearranged the store and kept getting in newer and more fabulous fabric lines we just couldn't ignore the preverbal elephant in the room. That elephant? There is simply too much fabric for the shop's space.

A few pictures of just A fraction of what will be on sale.
For two days November 14th and 15th we're putting a ton of fabric on sale for $6 a yard, $4 if you empty the bolt. Some of our newer fabric is going on sale for $8 a yard, or $6 if you empty the bolt. Machine embroidery designs will be on sale for 50% or 70% off. Some of our precuts and books will be on sale for 20% off. Lots of patterns will be marked down 50-70%.

If that wasn't enough we're also going to do a huge giveaway. Every time you spend $25 you're name will be put in a drawing for a Stella lamp!!

The sale is right in time for the Holidays and we're going to stay open late. November 14th from 10am-8pm and November 15 from 10am-3pm.

This is the perfect opportunity to come in and get yardage for backings, to restock your tired stash and to find that elusive Moda that can't be ordered any longer. SQUEAL! Also I'll be working along with the rest of the crew so come in and see us.

See you soon and

New Fabric and New Projects

We recently received the entire line of Moda's Basic Grey Persimmon collection. THE ENTIRE COLLECTION! It's gorgeous and very romantic (at least in my view). I love the way they've juxtaposed woodsy and sort of Native American motifs with a really soft feminine touch. It's just lovely. Below is a small sample Click HERE to view the entire collection or come into the store.
I think this arrow fabric is fantastic.

There's been a bit of a lack of completed projects on this here blog and part of it is because I was working on this Amy Butler Bag.
It's for my mom and I'm very excited to give it to her this weekend. I love the fabrics (all from the shop) which Sue helped me to pick out. She is so amazing with fabric coordination! The directions were very easy to understand. The pattern had a lot of pieces which isn't my favorite thing, but it went together so well and is so cute that I'll forgive the plethora of interfacings. I used Amy Butler's Field Bag and Tote (I made the bag version which is really just the tote with a zipper installed). Click HERE for the pattern.
Here's a closeup of the fabrics. Don't you just love this fantastic button? We have a wonderful button selection in the shop.

Then I made this quick pillow. I got the idea from THIS PIN from pinterest but changed the silhouette from the traditional sherlock to the BBC modern take on the show. This is a gift for a friend who adores the show (and really, who doesn't, it's fantastic!). I printed the silhouette off of the internet and traced it onto EZ-steam then affixed it to the black felt. After I adhered the oval and the silhouette to the pillow I hand stitched around them to keep the pieces from peeling away at the edges. The pillow itself was a piece of cake; two squares sewn right sides together. I'm pretty pleased with the results and can see lots of possibilities with other silhouettes.

What have you been up to? The weeks until Christmas are blowing away. I hope your finding some joy and happiness with your needle and thread.

So Much New Fabric...

Today I finished putting all the new Moda fabric in our online shop. We have so much new fabric! Wonderful, lovely, colorful fabrics. I know that at least one of them will become a summer blouse for me but I have no idea how I will decide.

This is "Mirabelle" by Fig Tree and Co. Really pretty vintage looking fabrics. The lacy one reminds me of some of the fancy papers for scrapbooking. Click HERE to see it online or come in to the shop.

This is the "April Showers" collection by Bonnie & Camille. These umbrellas make my heart happy. Wouldn't the umbrellas make a fabulous little girls dress with the green gingham as the collar and cuffs? Click HERE to view online or come in and ogle it in the shop like I've been.

This giant collection is "Color Me Happy" from V and Co. This is the first collection of theirs we've carried and as you can tell we really like it. This isn't even everything, there's more at our website! This is probably going to be the collection that wins out for summer blouse territory. One of the Floral Boquets, or Floral Sprouts, I think those two look really vintage but in a fresh sort of way. I just love a fabric that harkens back to the 1940's and one of my favorite summer blouse patterns is a 1940's reissue from Simplicity #1692, sounds like a match made in heaven to me. Click HERE to see all of Color Me Happy.

Wooly Lady Fabric, Pillow patterns and bundles.

Lastly, we are now carrying Wooly Lady wool fabric. We'll be selling it in three sizes: $6.25, $12.50, $25.00 and we'll continue to get more colors in, as she releases them. We're also carrying a few of her kits and several of her patterns. Come into the store to see all the pretty colors. We've got one of the kits online click HERE to see it.

Happy spring, and happy sewing,
Love,
Jessie and Sue.

Learning to Let Holiday Things Go.

Christmas is nearly here and I'm trying to let things go. The last couple of weeks were full of minor medical emergencies with my oldest son, and somehow time just slipped away. It usually does this time of year, and even though I made sure to have less projects on my list this holiday season I'm finding myself out of time. And, that's okay. It's okay if the basement isn't cleaned and the floors aren't mopped. If I don't get my new messenger bag finished before I leave on vacation I'll still go on vacation (though I really really really want to finish it). What IS important is pie, sticky buns, wrapped presents, and really those things aren't even that important. It's my husband and boys that make this season so special, and I'm learning to let the other stuff go.

We'll be closing tomorrow at noon and we'll be closed the 25th and 26th. We'll close New Year's Eve at noon and be closed New Year's day. We got a new shipment of Moda in the shop a few new books and patterns and some really awesome filler for pin cushions. All online and in our brick and mortar store.
New Moda Fabrics. Click HERE to see online.

We'll be with family and on vacation so you won't be seeing a blog post for a week or so, but we'll be back with new projects for the new year. Have a very merry Christmas and blessed New Year.
Happy Sewing,
Love Jessie and Sue.

New Fabric Collections in Store!

This week I had the great pleasure of putting the most brand-new fabrics on our website. This is the first time I've gotten to unwrap and tag the newest of new fabric and let me just say it was a rush! Thus far I've been getting the website up to date with things that were already in the store. Getting to put fabric on the website as soon as it's been unboxed is EVEN better!

There are two new collections from Moda: Scrumptious from Designers Bonnie and Camille. I think this might be my favorite of the new (though it is really is hard to decide). It definitely has a vintage flair and the colors are right up my alley.
A few of the fabrics from Scrumptious.
The second Moda was, Soho Chic from Sandy Gervais. This fabric is so rich looking and still kind of exotic. I love that combo! Can't you just imagine the most plush room with a mahogany poster bed, and french doors that open up to the french rivera?
SoHo Chic from Moda.
Finally, the new line from Art Gallery is called Minimalista and has a completely wonderful sixties mod look. The color is so wonderful and I love all the geometry of these fabrics. Not to mention they feel amazing (am I the only one who loves to feel fabric). I don't know how quilting cotton can feel like silk, but it totally does.

You can find all of these in our brick and mortar store or online, here. We would love to feature projects made with these fabrics, so bring them in or send us pics so we can see what lovely ways you use the fabric. I'm leaving next week for a sister/mom trip, so if it's quiet around here you'll know why. I hope your fall is going splendidly.
